{"id":92,"date":"2010-01-18T08:43:50","date_gmt":"2010-01-18T15:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.tatianaserafin.com\/speakers\/?p=92"},"modified":"2010-03-28T12:27:57","modified_gmt":"2010-03-28T19:27:57","slug":"india-outsourcing-biz-to-grow-15-in-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tatianaserafin.com\/speakers\/india-outsourcing-biz-to-grow-15-in-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"India Outsourcing Biz to Grow 15+% in 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">2009 was a mixed year for the Business Process Outsourcing\/<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">ITeS<\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> industry in India.\u00a0 The industry still gets the majority of business from the US and so is tied closely to the US economy.\u00a0 However, many companies, large and small, have made efforts to diversify into other geographies and the effect of that will be seen in 2010.\u00a0 The top new areas are Europe, which is starting to embrace outsourcing in a bigger way, Middle East, Latin America (for near-shoring operations mainly) and Asia-Pacific.\u00a0 Japan is still a tough nut to crack due to immense cultural differences.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Another area being looked at much more closely is the domestic Indian market.\u00a0 Continuing to grow at 7-8% annually, it is one of the most optimistic business climates in the world according to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grantthornton.com\/portal\/site\/gtcom\/menuitem.a8ee697a92b73ac9b217bfae633841ca\/?vgnextoid=b17acbbdad9c4010VgnVCM100000368314acRCRD&amp;vgnextfmt=default\">Grant <\/a><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.grantthornton.com\/portal\/site\/gtcom\/menuitem.a8ee697a92b73ac9b217bfae633841ca\/?vgnextoid=b17acbbdad9c4010VgnVCM100000368314acRCRD&amp;vgnextfmt=default\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Thorton<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> survey, along with Chile, Vietnam, Australia and Brazil.\u00a0 The domestic India market itself is maturing with businesses turning more professional and seeking out IT and BPO services.\u00a0 The price points are also improving to make it worthwhile for export oriented companies to look inward. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Voice-based services will continue to see a decline in growth as a lot of that business is moving to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/global\/2009\/1019\/forbes-400-rich-list-09-tuchman-philippines-telecom-troubleshoot.html\">Philippines<\/a> and other locations.\u00a0 Non-voice business and the more complex BPO services (loosely called Knowledge Process Outsourcing or KPO &#8211; e.g., market research), are expected to see a break-out year in 2010.\u00a0 This is because, not only have they matured to be able to provide more business value, instead of simply executing transactions, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: small;\">but the demand for these services will also increase as the global economy gets back on its feet this year.<!--more--><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\">This year will also see a heightened level of Merger&amp;Acquisition activity.\u00a0 The companies that have made it through 2009 with their business model and balance sheet intact would be in a strong position to acquire or be acquired.\u00a0 The environment of 2007 where there was too much money chasing too few deals will return pushing valuations back up.\u00a0 It remains to be seen to what extent the activity gets back to 2006\/2007 levels and there are still many uncertainties as far as the return to global growth is concerned. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">So while growth rates slowed to single digits for this sector in 2009, I expect it to grow at about 15-20% in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Rahul Sahgal is the found and CEO of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.anniksystems.com\/index.html\">Annik Technology Services Pvt.
