Tatiana Serafin is an award winning writer (2014 Newswomens Club Front Page Award), Journalism Professor at Marymount Manhattan College, and co-host of international news podcast, The Doorstep. In her spare time, she researches the history of women’s colleges in the United States and translates poetry of Ukrainian poet, Lesya Ukrainka.

Ms. Serafin’s most recent project is The Doorstep, a podcast produced with the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs, where she serves as a Senior Fellow researching the business of global news and the impact of the Gen Z consumer. She leads the Journalism program at Marymount Manhattan College developing new courses (Reporting Gender, Digital Journal of Ideas and Culture, among others) and guiding the next generation of journalists.

Ms. Serafin co-founded FirstAmendmentWatch.org in 2017. She previously worked at Forbes as an editor and writer, and as a researcher for Forbes Insights, writing reports such as Creating Wealth—A Survey of Entrepreneurs Worldwide: They’re Insights. Their Challenges. Their Needs. She initiated Forbes’ billionaire coverage in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, writing for both Forbes magazine and forbes.com, as well as other publications on the entrepreneurs and politicians shaping these emerging markets. During her tenure at Forbes, Ms. Serafin was promoted to Forbes staff writer and co-editor of the billionaires list and put together several Forbes Billionaires issues. She edited and managed researchers located around the globe; she has also written profiles of billionaires in Kazakhstan, the UK and the US.

As as a freelance editor for Inc.com,  Ms. Serafin contributed to e-book, “Inc. 101 Great Ideas That Work – Leadership & Managing.” She has written about trusts and estates for Barron’s Penta, authored an investing column on mint.com, “Invest Like A Billionaire,” and covered corporate governance while on a three month residency at Reuters. Ms. Serafin has freelanced for variety of print and online publications including USA Today, The National Interest, Worth, MSNBC.COM, Forbes Middle East, and PM Network.

Ms. Serafin comes to journalism after six years with management consultancy, Kaiser Associates, where she advised multinational corporations on strategy and competitive positioning. She continues her consulting work with a focus on content and social media development. Ms. Serafin worked for three years with NYSE Euronext to build the NYSE Euronext blog site, Exchanges.nyx.com, featuring leading financial markets thinkers. She has also served as a pro-bono consultant for news site, MediaGlobal, developing business strategy and outreach programs.

Ms. Serafin has an MFA in Creative Writing from the New School, an MA in Business and Economic Reporting from New York University, as well as an MA in Central European and Russian Studies and BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.

She serves as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and board member of The Seventh Wave magazine, The Southlands Foundation and Third Street Music School Settlement.
